Measuring instructions
To help us fit you correctly:
| Instructions for outlining and measuring your feet: Work in a standing position on a hard surface - not carpet, and wear thin cotton socks or tights/stockings. It is recommended that you do not wear a thick sock. Have someone else measure your feet. If you bend to do it yourself, you will put weight on your feet and change the size. If you wear orthotics please measure your feet with them in place and then measure your feet again without them - both sets of measurements are required for a proper fit. |
|
| Instructions for outlining feet. See diagram for further help. Use a seperate sheet of paper for each foot. place your foot on the paper on a solid floor (or a clipboard) To trace the foot use a pencil. Holding it at a 90 degree angle to the floor, trace all the way around the foot . |
|
| WITHOUT MOVING - change the angle of the pencil to 30-45
degrees, where the flesh meets the floor trace the footprint. Complete the rest
of the measurements using the directions as indicated As measurements are
taken, keep the tape snug but not tight. To take the following measurements you
must be seated with your feet flat on the floor, and wearing socks. |

VOLUME MEASUREMENTS |
|
| Ball Measurement The ball is easy to find as it is the knuckle behind where the big and little toe attach to the foot. Loop the tape measure around the foot starting and finishing at the ball of your big toe. You may pull the tape slightly tighter on the ball than you do on the Low Instep High instep and Heel measurements. the tape should be snug to the foot. This is your ball measurement. |
|
| To ensure correct measurement has been taken:With the tape measure looped around your foot, stand up. Your foot should now expand approx 1/4 of an inch. If this happens proceed as directed. If not the wrong measurement has been taken. Begin process again (We require the unexpanded measurement.) | |
| High Instep
measurement. This is a critical measurement. To
find the correct spot sit in a chair as if you were driving your car. Slightly
extend your right foot in front of you, as if on the accelerator pedal, all the
way to the floor. Next pretend to let up on the accellerator pedal....all the
way so that your foot is flexed toward your knee with the heel still on the
floor. As you now look down on the top of your foor you will see where the foot
and the ankle meet. That is the High Instep. That's the spot where the boot
begins to grip your foot when the foot is inside it. You might see a flexor
tendon or two running from your shin to your foot. Don't loop around those.
Loop around the spot on top of the foot as it flattens out.... |

| Heel MeasurementFor the heel measurement you will
use the High Instep spot on top of the foot. Loop the measure from the High
instep spot around the heel where it meets the floor and back up. |
|
| Low Instep For the low instep move your points
about 1" forward (towards the toes) of the high instep. Again loop the
measure around the foot bringing it back to the start point. |
|
| Calf For your calf measurement, measure from where your heel meets the floor to the height of the boot required. i.e Standard boot is 13" high. Repeat the measurement a couple of times before recording your measurements to make sure of their validity. Measure both feet and record the measurements in inches, Include details of your standard UK shoe size and width. | |
